The Importance of Proper Tire Pressure

The Importance of Proper Tire Pressure

It is common for tire manufacturers to print the optimal pressure level on each tire. In most cases, you will want to have at least 33 pounds per square inch (PSI) of air in all four tires. There are many reasons why it is vital to follow that guideline as closely as possible.

First, too little air pressure can result in increased friction and a reduced ability to push water or snow away. Ultimately, this can result in an increased fire risk during warm and dry periods in (city) and decreased traction during times of rain, snow or ice.

Too much air pressure can cause a tire to lose its shape, which may also result in a lack of traction regardless of weather or road conditions. A tire with a distorted shape may also be vulnerable to uneven wear and tear, which may reduce its useful life.
