Performance and Efficiency
The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers four different engine options, each being more powerful than the next. The first is a 3.6-litre Pentastar VVT V6 engine that produces 293 Horsepower and 260 lb-ft. of torque. The second is a 5.7-litre HEMI VVT V8 engine producing 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft. of torque. The third, which will knock your socks off, is a 6.4-litre SRT HEMI V8 engine producing a blistering 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. of torque. The fourth and final one will send chills down your spine is a 6.2-litre SRT HEMI V8 supercharged engine, producing an outrageous 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft. of torque.
The 2020 Ford Explorer also offers four different engines. All are grossly underpowered compared to the Jeep Grand Cherokee but still worth noting. A standard 2.3-litre turbocharged inline-four with 300 hp, 310 lb-ft of torque. A 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 producing 365 hp, 380 lb-ft of torque. A 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 (ST) with 400 hp, 415 lb-ft of torque and finally a 3.3-litre hybrid V6 that pushes 318 hp, 322 lb-ft of torque.
Luxury, Comfort and Safety
The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, available in Edson, Alberta, is appointed with a host of comfort and convenience features such as; heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and power-adjustable front seats. The interior has a classy and very upscale overall design with near-luxury levels of refinement and style. Unfortunately, the Ford Explorer does not stand a chance when it goes up against one of the best and most intuitive infotainment systems in the business. The Uconnect system in the Jeep Grand Cherokee is easy to operate and is controlled via a 7-inch or 8.4-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard equipment.
The 2020 Ford Explorer also offers some of the luxury features that the Jeep does, such as; heated front and rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Ford has made some improvements to their interior comfort compared to the outgoing model but still comes up a bit short. The SYNC 3 system in the Ford is a pleasure to use, but it does not fare quite as well when going head-to-head with the Uconnect system. The Ford Explorer comes with an assortment of standard safety equipment along with Ford's Co-Pilot360 system, which has some notable features, but it is still in its early stages.
